$1000 for attendant gifts?!? How many do you have? What are you giving them? I just got married in April and I gave my bridesmaids silver heart compact mirrors with their names engraved $10 a piece, beer glasses for the groomsmen with names engraved $9 a glass,a glass heart box for my flower girl with her name engraved on the lid and when you opened it the bottom said "Flower Girl April 12, 2008" and it was only $10, and I made albums for the parents. Total was about $175. All were bought from engravers on Ebay.

How about your invitations? I bought mine at Hobby Lobby when they had their bridal sale 50% off. They had a gray curly back ground with a frosted overlay and a gray ribbon that tied them together. Very nice and I printed them myself for $50. Everyone thought I had them done.

    HAHA! Windex...

...there are 23 people in the wedding party.

My dad is spending about $25,000...the bulk of it.

This is just what I am covering.

It is not about us killing anyone here...it is about light bulb moments and putting them to good use.

It is your big day and should be special. That said, it is also a single day and will be special whether you spend $2500 or $25,000. Be sure it is what will meet your wants and your needs...often we get tied up in keeping up with others---and not about what we would really find special. Balance. and remember there are alternative options for just about everything.

Disneysteve had some good ideas on cost saving options for his daughter's bat mitzvah.

hey Scrimp...I am planning a wedding too...my prices are quite different from yours, but the overall budget is similar. Im trying to stay under 20k. I guess its all about location of wedding and priorities. I'll post my expenses soon for you to compare.

When I got married, I found a beautiful place that had almost all the services in one - the location, clean up, flowers, DJ, photography. This saved us over $8,000 having in one location and it was beautiful. Everyone still says it was the best wedding they ever went to. Good luck with your wedding and marriage.

23 people in the wedding party?!? Why? And $1,000 for gifts works out to almost $44/person. What exactly are you giving them?

I can't say I've ever seen a wedding with anywhere near that many people in the wedding party. It is usually a best man, maid/matron of honor 2-4 ushers and 2-4 bridesmaids and a flower girl. So maybe 10 or so tops.

    How many guests are invited?

How many hotel rooms are you paying for for $500? Are you picking up the tab for a lot of other people?

Despite what mom-sense mentioned, we are in the midst of planning a $25,000 or so affair for September, so I know exactly what you are dealing with. But there are definitely ways to economize if you want/need to.

Not a bad amount. $25k is not outrageous considering the size of the wedding.
